We’ve got a 1600hp Nissan GT-R going head-to-head with a 1200hp Audi R8 & a 1,100hp McLaren 720S… And trust us, it’s absolutely EPIC!

So let’s run through the stats. First up we’ve got Mat in the GT-R, which would normally have a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6… But it’s had a full engine rebuild and it’s now packing a 4.1-litre twin-turbo V6 which delivers a humungous 1,600hp & 1,500Nm!! It also rolls up with AWD and weighs in at 1,750kg.

Next up we have Auto Torque’s Audi R8. Yianni’s in it, and he’s looking forward to feeling its 5.2-litre NA V10 in action once again! And it’s no surprise, given it delivers 1200hp & 930Nm of torque! It’s also slightly lighter than the GT-R, at 1,650kg.

Then finally we have the 720S. Of course, it’s been tuned, so its 4-litre twin-turbo V8 now delivers 1,100hp and 950Nm. It’s easily the lightest car here, at 1,400kg, but it’s got one big disadvantage - it’s only RWD!

Trust us, this one is NOT to be missed!

This video is about the WinRing 0 driver (not to be confused with Security Ring 0, but related in this story) and how it has propped-up the fan control and RGB industry for over a decade now. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, security updates have broken this code, resulting in a mad dash to re-develop RGB and fan control software by the hardware vendors. Several already began the transition, while others only recently had to reckon with the decision to use a driver now quarantined by Windows for security reasons. NVIDIA’s RTX 5090 & 50 series launch in general has turned the entire PC space into a complete disaster, literally. Retailers expected massive demand, jacked up prices, and now high-end GPUs are just sitting there collecting dust. ASUS’ ROG Astral RTX 5090 cards are on shelves at $3,719, ZOTAC raised its price to $2,700, and some European stores are even offloading B-stock 5090s with missing hardware for €2,899. The market miscalculated big time. People aren’t paying double what the RTX 4090 cost, and with rumors of AMD’s next-gen GPUs looming, buyers are holding out. NVIDIA may have to rethink its pricing strategy, or we might be looking at some serious price drops soon.

On the laptop side, NVIDIA is cracking down on manufacturers who undercut power specs. Gaming laptops often ship with GPUs that sound powerful—like an “RTX 5090”—but actually run at lower wattages, meaning performance can vary wildly. Now, NVIDIA is forcing companies to be transparent about exact power specs, so buyers don’t get tricked into thinking their laptop has the same performance as a desktop GPU. This could be a game-changer for laptop gaming, ensuring people actually know what they’re paying for.

Right now, the GPU market is in a weird spot. Desktop GPUs are too expensive, laptops are getting stricter labeling, and gamers are waiting to see what happens next. If NVIDIA doesn’t course-correct soon, we could be looking at some major shifts in pricing, competition, and how GPUs are sold. Will prices crash? Will AMD take advantage of the chaos? The next few months are going to be very interesting.
